The food wasn’t expensive, and it came really fast!! The restaurant is also clean and the service is good. However, the broth wasn’t super flavorful, and I added a lot of chilli sauce just for flavor. This is a good option if you’re looking for a quick bite.

Great spot to grab pho on cold days. We’ve dined here a few times and it was good every time . Portion is big and food comes out fast. Price is great for NYC

This quaint little eatery is where you come when your only goal is to get food into your famished self after a long day walking or working, and you don't really care about much else. The Banh mi sandwiches are hearty and filled with plenty of healthy veggies. The ingredients are fresh and flavorful as the vegetables are mostly pickled. Summer rolls come with a peanut sauce that you should definitely use, as it is otherwise unflavored. I particularly enjoyed the spring rolls which come with the wrapping lettuce and semi-sweet/sour dipping sauce. The key is to use everything as the combination keeps the texture nice and crisp while off-setting the heaviness and greasy feeling you get from just fried food. At the price point that everything is, I don't have any complaints about the food. The space has very limited seating and is rather tight, but kept clean. As there isn't any alcoholic beverages or a bathroom, all of this lends to encouraging you to leave once you are done, which I don't mind. TLDR: This shop does what it needs to do well, which is keeping a clean and presentable eatery and feeding people affordably. Service is also attentive.

Low key best spot for a quick bite. They served our food quicker than any fast food franchise.

The portions are huge! I love that the food isn’t too hot, so you can enjoy it right away—and even go back for more!

If you're craving authentic Vietnamese flavors in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, look no further than Pho 39 on West 39th Street. Tucked away in a compact spot that's perfect for a quick lunch or cozy dinner, this hidden gem delivers big on taste without the fuss. I stumbled upon it during a busy workday, drawn in by the aromatic steam wafting out the door and the line of locals queuing up—always a good sign! The atmosphere is no-frills but charming: limited seating keeps things intimate, and the service is lightning-fast and friendly, even during peak hours. The server was attentive, offering spot-on recommendations, It's the kind of place where you feel like a regular on your first visit. Now, onto the star of the show: I ordered the Fried Catfish Pho, and oh man, it was absolutely amazing! The broth was rich and fragrant, simmered to perfection with layers of star anise, ginger, and herbs that hit that perfect balance of savory and subtle spice. The catfish fillets were fried to a golden crisp on the outside while staying tender and flaky inside—no greasiness here, just pure flavor that soaked up the broth like a dream. Paired with fresh rice noodles, a heap of bean sprouts, basil, lime, and jalapeños on the side, every bite was a textural adventure. It's not your traditional pho, but this fusion twist elevates it to something special—crunchy, comforting, and utterly addictive. At $16, it's a steal for the portion size, which left me satisfied but not stuffed. Pho 39 isn't just food; it's a flavor explosion that transports you straight to the streets of Hanoi with a New York edge. Whether you're a pho fanatic or a newbie, do yourself a favor and stop by. 5 stars all the way—I'll be back soon for round two!
